When we see the way that entire economies, societies around the world have been impacted by Covid-19, we realise some of the challenges we are facing. No PPE and other products being delivered because so much is outsourced and made in China, ventilators and other equipment not being able to be repaired fast enough due to patent and design issues, seemingly food supply shortages at first and then, on the other hand, going to waste.
All these system “breakdowns” have clearly shown the fragility of our current economies and that the foundations they are built on are not as resilient as many would have us believe.
These clear indicators, however, are why we believe more than ever that there is a strong place for a circular economy, a more resilient economy. In this session, the Circular Economy Club Reading will explore with us how a recovery based on circular models could help us create a more resilient society.
