Ethical Reading Partner Forum – The Practicality of Ethics in Business

Ethical Reading is hosting a Partners’ Forum to open discussion on
‘The Practicality of Ethics in Business’


Dominic Hall, Head of Ethical Business Conduct, BAE Systems

Dominic is responsible for BAE Systems’ Business Ethics Programme across the UK and International businesses, and is the current Chair of the International Forum on Business Ethical Conduct (IFBEC). He has deep experience in implementing and operating all aspects of ethics and compliance governance frameworks. Dominic previously held similar leadership roles in Ethics and Compliance at Coca-Cola Enterprises and at BG Group, an oil and gas major. He is also a qualified auditor, and held audit and consulting roles at KPMG for seven years. Dominic has undergraduate and postgraduate degrees in Philosophy from St. Andrews University.

James Parkin, Associate Director, Eximius Group

James has been working in the technology recruitment sector since 2005 and has led sales teams both locally in Reading and globally. He has been with Eximius Group since 2017 and connected with Ethical Reading not long after this to create the Ethical Recruitment Charter for Reading. By working with hundreds of companies over the years he has experienced first hand how employers balance ethics with their operational needs. At a time when unemployment and recruitment are in the headlines every week he believes ethical recruitment is more important than ever.

David Thomas, Thames Valley Regional Managing Partner, Vail Williams LLP

David is the Thames Valley Regional Managing Partner for Vail Williams and specialises in advising occupiers on the acquisition, relocation strategy, workplace utilization, transaction management and disposal of real estate across the UK navigating the maze of anti-bribery, money laundering, conflicts of interest requirements and regulation. Additionally he sits as an RICS panel Chairman for the Assessment of Professional Competence.

Rachel Eden, Founder, Holy Brook Associates

Rachel Eden is the founder of Holy Brook Associates, a boutique accountancy practice that specialises in supporting small businesses and not-for-profits and also in design and delivery of training.

Rachel is also an Councillor having previously held portfolios for Housing and Adult Social Care and is currently serving as Deputy Mayor of Reading.

She is a Senior Visiting Lecturer at Royal Holloway College, University of London.
