Purpose:

We’re looking for one or two information technology (IT) specialist volunteers to support the work of Ethical Reading. We have a broad set of programmes and initiatives, over 20 volunteers and use a wide range of software systems.

Description:

Ethical Reading is a fast growing social enterprise and we need robust, agile software systems to support the work we do. We’re seeking IT specialist volunteers with a range of previous experience from help desk support, administration and code development.

The work may include the following activities, depending on your previous experience and preferences:

  • Helping to develop our IT strategy and roadmap
  • User IT help desk support
  • MSOffice 365 systems administration including SharePoint
  • Ethical Reading Wiki development
  • Helping with Ethical Reading website updates

Volunteering with Ethical Reading is a great opportunity for you to make a positive impact locally and support our work across our programmes and initiatives such as Trees for Reading and Ethics in Education. It’s also a chance to apply and enhance skills if you are relatively new into the workface or have taken a break from working and want to return at some point. We currently have around 20 volunteers with a broad range of backgrounds and experience

Support given:

  • Volunteer induction and coaching
  • Regular meetings with the lead Director
  • Training on Ethical Reading (Microsoft) systems
  • Volunteers social meetups

Skills & Experience Required:

  • Good organisational and project management skills
  • Proficient in IT systems administration and or software development
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Office365 administration would be helpful

Time Commitment:

Depends on the role and is typically @ 4 hours per week on average
