People and Wellbeing Lead

Purpose:

To lead internal HR and wellbeing activities for Ethical Reading, including contributing to the Wellbeing Programme and leading various internal HR and wellbeing projects, as well as involvement in wellbeing initiatives for the wider local community.

Description:

At Ethical Reading, we believe that all everyone has the right to be treated with respect, fairness and compassion at work. Research shows that if they are treated in this way, they feel better, are healthier and enjoy their work more.

This role will provide support the People and Culture director in leading the internal HR and Wellbeing function. The lead will also be involved in the external facing Wellbeing programme and initiatives.

The work will include the following activities:

Proposing, leading and developing internal HR and Wellbeing initiatives and action plans e.g. surveys, skills mapping, briefings and workshops.
Contributing to People and Culture strategy and planning
Liaising with our Wellbeing Service providers (local experts) and our Partner organisations on initiatives

It’s also a chance to apply and enhance skills if you are relatively new into the workface or have taken a break from working and want to return at some point. We currently have around 20 volunteers with a broad range of backgrounds and experience.

Support given:

Volunteer induction and coaching
Weekly meeting with Finance Director
IT support and training on Ethical Reading (Microsoft) systems
Volunteers monthly meetings and social gatherings

Skills & Experience Required:

Good organisational/ project management skills
Some background in a related area would be helpful e.g. wellbeing, HR, learning and development.
Comfortable using a PC, and online office tools including email.

Depends on the precise tasks undertaken
